The Swedish Crime Victim Compensation and Support Authority is Sweden's expert authority on matters concerning crime victims. The authority works to improve information and support for those who have been victims of crime by deciding on crime victim compensation, reclaiming paid compensation from offenders, funding research and projects focused on crime victims through the Crime Victim Fund, and by being a knowledge center on crime victim issues. The authority is located in central Umeå.

An important part of a crime victim's restitution is the right to compensation. The authority handles around 12,000 cases of crime victim compensation each year and annually decides on compensation to crime victims totaling more than 150 million SEK. When compensation has been paid out, the authority seeks to recover as much as possible from the convicted offender. Recovery actions are handled by the recovery unit.

We are now looking for one or more lawyers with a law degree to work in the authority's recovery unit. Your task will be to handle the authority's recovery cases against convicted offenders in a debt collection operation, in close cooperation with other staff.

The duties involve legal work in the areas of claims, enforcement, and execution law. This means that you will handle the authority's claims through direct claims against debtors and claims via the Enforcement Authority. In your work, you will, for example, handle issues within the debt restructuring process, establish installment plans, handle composition proposals, and draft various types of opinions for courts, the Enforcement Authority, and other authorities. You will be involved in appeal processes as well as other processes where our claims need to be handled in court. You will also have frequent telephone contact with debtors and, in addition, participate in all other tasks carried out by the unit.

The work is multifaceted and varied, and places great demands on work capacity, judgment, and versatility.

We are looking for someone who

  • is positive, engaged, and wants to work in an environment where tasks can vary
  • has the ability to make decisions and to make well-considered priorities
  • expresses themselves well both verbally and in writing
  • understands that the recovery concerns convicted offenders and that contacts with them place special demands on communication

Experience in administrative work at an authority is advantageous. You should have good knowledge of the Office suite, and it is an advantage if you are accustomed to using the phone.

The recruitment is for a permanent position with a probationary period, full-time. Immediate start. We apply individual salary setting. We strive for diversity and gender equality.

Questions about the job are answered by unit manager Sten-Håkan Sidebo, 090-70 82 15. For union information, contact Bo Eriksson, SACO, 090-70 82 14.

Welcome with your application no later than January 26, 2025, via email to [email protected] or by mail to the Swedish Crime Victim Compensation and Support Authority, Box 470, 901 09 Umeå.

Attach usual application documents including relevant grades and work certificates, and state your salary requirements. Mark your application with 16577/24.

We have carefully selected recruitment channels and therefore kindly decline contact from advertising and recruitment agencies.
